Door Panel Assembly
SMS is the leader in providing N.O.S. (New Old Stock) and reproduction automotive interior products for the largest of domestic and foreign automobiles from the 1940s to 1990s. We specialize in supplying fabrics, vinyls, seat covers, embossings, original-style interior door panels and much more to customers all over the world. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the supply end of the automotive restoration industry, surrounded by the largest inventory of original materials in the world.
Responsibilities
- This position is primarily responsible for the layout and complete final assembly of door panels using templates, original diagrams and photographs.
Ideal Candidate
- You will be trained on the job, so possessing a curiosity to learn, and being willing to ask questions is a plus
- Possess excellent attention to detail and be comfortable bringing issues or concerns to the appropriate people so they can be addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
- Be able to multi-task and work on a variety of projects at any given time.
- This position also requires standing for long periods of time and, at times, some heavy lifting.
- Be able to maintain a positive work ethic and professional attitude, good attendance, and have a desire to complete a high-level of work quality.
- An interest and/or background in classic automobiles and automotive interiors with a desire to learn upholstery work is highly desired.
- Be able to maintain a tidy, organized work station.
Qualifications
- Must have a strong attention to detail
- Must have ability to read a tape measure during layout assembly
- Read and write in English
- Knowledge and frequent use of power tools
- Ability to follow a diagram, template, or pattern
- Possess basic knowledge of automobile interior components and their placement in the vehicle
- Be able to learn quickly and work independently
- Ability to lift 30lbs

Heat Stamping Machine Operator

- This position is responsible for using a heat stamping machine to produce an array of embossed designs in vinyl and leather to be used in the interiors of classic automobiles.
